Energy, Climate, Poverty and Prosperity

The ultimate role of our industry has been to better human lives. This must continue to be our goal. Demand for hydrocarbons is at all-time highs and growing strongly. Natural gas has been the fastest-growing energy source over the last decade and almost certainly will be in the coming decade. Apologizing for our industry and talking endlessly of an energy transition is both ineffective and incorrect. The world desperately needs more energy to continue the life improvements everyone craves. We must do all we can to grow and improve our industry. The way forward is an honest, not political, dialogue about the world’s energy system and our role in it.

The Money: What Private Equity, Public Equity & Banks Want Today

Private equity continues to flow into onshore U.S. natgas E&P opportunities. Public equity is coming back to E&P stocks. And banks still want to bank E&Ps, albeit at a higher Fed-adjusted rate of 5.5%-plus. These experts in each field talk about how to capture the capital needed to grow your oil and gas business. And what do investors and lenders need to know today about the portfolios they're backing? For starters, what's your environmental record? Learn here about the 2024 version of hurdles to capitalization.

  • Where does equity capital see opportunity today? Oil? Gas? U.S.? Abroad?
  • What's the appetite today for taking on bank and public-bond debt with a 5.5%-plus floor?
  • Is the growth in S&P 500 weighting to energy stocks just a reflection of growth in energy stocks' price growth versus other sectors?
  • How strong is the pushback on ESG investing today? Is it simply pushing no further or is it actually stepping back?
  • How do oil and gas producers overcome capital-access impasses today?

These two policies will have immediate and widespread ramifications for Louisiana. Some of the key discussion topics in this session will include:

  • The impact of the administration’s ruling on LNG projects.
  • What is impacted—and what isn’t—while the pause on LNG project approvals is in effect.
  • What primacy over Class VI wells means for Louisiana.
